Title I Reading Teacher
My name is Tanya Cummings and I am the 1996 graduate of Gage Public School. I attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, graduating in 2001 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education. After graduation, I began teaching Character First Education and was a long term substitute for first grade at Washington Elementary School in the Alva. In the fall of 2001, I began teaching in my hometown. In 2009, I earned my Master’s Degree in Library Media from East Central University in Ada. While at Gage, I held several teaching positions. I taught special education, third and fourth grades, and was the library media specialist. I began teaching at Shattuck in 2010. I taught 5th grade my first year and later became the Title I reading teacher and interventionist. I currently work with students in grades KG-8.
I am certified in Elementary Education, Special Education, High School English, and Library Media.
I have attended various professional developments. Some of these include Great Expectations, LETRS Training, OTA/ Encyclomedia Conference, Engage Oklahoma, Edmentum (Study Island, Exact Path, Reading Eggs, Education City) Training, Renisaunce Place Trainings, and attended a Google Summitt.
I have been teaching at Shattuck Public Schools since 2010.
I am married to Joshua and we have two children, Drew and Jaylon. Drew and Jaylon are both students in Shattuck and are active in many activities. These activities keep us very busy! We enjoy traveling to see new places, spending time outdoors, and watching movies together. We have two dogs, Sam and Duke.
