Great Western Shootout Livestock Judging Contest

On November 5th, 2020, a total of two hundred twenty-nine FFA members from Northwest Oklahoma competed in the annual Great Western Shootout Livestock Judging Contest. This contest, which consisted of eight different classes, tested the skills of judging the features of different animals such as lambs, pigs, goats, steers, and bulls.
The results of this year’s contest are as follows: Junior 4-H Individuals: 1st- Kendra Dillingham, Drummond; 2nd- McCoy Landweher, Drummond; 3rd- Bentley Lott, Alva. Senior 4-H: 1st- Casi Noreuil, Arnett; 2nd- Landree Parsons, Arnett; 3rd- Makale Hamil, Arnett. Junior FFA: 1st- Cindy Lara, Shattuck; 2nd- Marlie Pitts, Waynoka; 3rd- Breya Beck, Waynoka. Senior FFA: 1st- Chlow Corbin, Hardesty; 2nd- Jade Jantzen, Cherokee; 3rd- Jeronimo Lara, Shattuck. Team awards were also given, and they are as follows: Junior 4-H: 1st- Drummond; 2nd- Alva 2; 3rd- Alva 1. Senior FFA: 1st- Arnett. Junior FFA: 1st- Waynoka; 2nd- Drummond; 3rd- Mooreland. Senior FFA: 1st- Cherokee; 2nd- Mooreland; 3rd- Alva.
Dozens of donuts and beverages were given to the competitors beforehand. The refreshments were sponsored by the Bank of Western Oklahoma. Joe Farris and Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma sponsored the awards. Thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible for another year!
