Officer Spotlight: Shattuck FFA President, Lexi Kelln
By Teagan Charmasson
Alexis Kelln has been a part of the Shattuck FFA for a total of five years now. She has served as the reporter, secretary, and this year she is the president of the chapter. Lexi is involved in several other extra curricular activities but she says agriculture and FFA is by far her favorite.
When asked what the FFA has done for her, Kelln responded, “FFA has taught me responsibility, leadership, and accountability. I have spent many hours in the classroom with my teachers practicing CDE’s, working on speeches, and learning new things. I have also spent the greater majority of my time the last five years in the barn. I have met so many new people, and made memories that will last a lifetime.” Lexi plans to go to NWOSU to study nursing in the fall. Lexi says that her favorite CDE competition is Ag Issues, or Speech. These contests have provided her with countless tools she will need in life. “Public speaking has helped me so much, I’ve gained confidence and have learned skills that I will carry with me throughout my future career, “ said Kelln. Her response to her favorite FFA memory was, “My favorite memory would have to be, Ag Olympics 2020. I may have ended the night with a loss, 3 staples in my head, and a mild concussion, but I was surrounded by my friends and family and still had a blast. This year I have connected with so many of the younger FFA members, and it has been eye opening.” One piece of advice Lexi gives younger FFA members is, “Even though it may seem scary putting yourself out there, after all is said and done, you will never regret the choice you made to be a part of something so life changing.” Lexi has one semester left in her presidency, and has a spring full of competitions and activities ahead. We wish her the best of luck in her future!
