By: Teagan Charmasson, Shattuck FFA Reporter
Jeronimo Lara is the 2020-2021 Shattuck FFA Vice President. He is a senior at Shattuck High School. Lara has been in FFA for a total of 5 years now. He is involved in many activities in FFA including competitive speech, livestock judging, and he is currently working on several projects. This includes his most recent project: helping improve the Shattuck Windmill Farm. Lara says, “Prepared speech has taught me not only the ability to speak to a crowd, but the value of dedication as well. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to compete at the state level in the agri-science division. Weeks leading up to that competition taught me that success does not come easy.”
Jeronimo plans on going to college at Oklahoma State University after high school, to pursue a career in Veterinary Science. According to Jeronimo, his favorite part of FFA is, “Getting to travel across the state and compete at multiple levels.” His favorite memory in the FFA is, “When we went to National Convention, and we got lost at the turnpike with Mrs. Sprouse.” When asked the question, “Why should someone join the FFA,” Lara responded with, “FFA has something for absolutely anybody. It’s not just for livestock showers. FFA is an amazing organization that produces future leaders of the United States.” Jeronimo gives this advice: “If I could give one piece of advice to younger FFA members, it would be to become active and find what interests you. FFA offers so much, and that is why it is such a great organization.”
