SHATTUCK BOARD OF EDUCATION APPROVES SCHOOL BOND PROPOSAL FOR APRIL VOTE
SHATTUCK, OK - The Shattuck Board of Education has approved moving forward with a comprehensive school
bond proposal that will significantly enhance educational facilities and student safety across the district. The bond
vote is scheduled for April 1, 2025.
At the heart of this proposal is the construction of a new elementary school featuring state-of-the-art security
measures and modern educational spaces. The current elementary school, built in 1958, presents numerous
challenges including security vulnerabilities and accessibility issues that no longer meet today's educational
standards.
"Our students deserve learning environments that are both safe and conducive to 21st-century education," said
Superintendent Tyson Bullard. "This bond proposal addresses critical infrastructure needs while creating spaces
that will enhance our students' educational experience."
The new elementary school will include:
- Four secure entry points, dramatically improving from the current 23 unsecured entries
- Enclosed playground area for enhanced student safety
- Above-ground storm shelter (Possible community storm shelter.)
- Dedicated music and art room
- Energy-efficient HVAC system, replacing the original 1959 boiler
- Multipurpose P.E. room
- Modern library multimedia center
- Updated electrical infrastructure to support today's technology needs
Additionally, the bond will fund important improvements to secondary education facilities, including:
- Renovations to the high school music room to better serve junior high and high school music programs
- Expansion of the agricultural mechanics shop to support the district's award-winning program
Community members who wish to support this initiative must be registered voters. The voter registration deadline is
March 7, 2025.
"This bond represents an investment in our children's future and our community's growth," added Bullard. "We
encourage all eligible voters to make their voices heard in this important vote."
